Parenting Corner: Keeping Caregivers in the Loop
It takes a village, and what we would do without the important caregivers in our children’s lives? Thank goodness for neighbors, grandparents, nannies and everyone that pitches in to make sure our children are cared for and thriving. This article from American Montessori Society has some great tips for how to communicate with your caregivers about the Montessori philosophy.
Here are two of the seven suggestions:
• Let children do things for themselves, and act as an observer. If children ask for help, scaffold and assist a little at a time (e.g., when struggling to put on shoes, offer to put your finger in the heel to help them slide it on rather than doing all of it for them).
• Do not interrupt the child if they are concentrating and focused.
