Parenting Corner: Fun Family Games

A family game night or afternoon is an excellent opportunity for quality bonding time. Not only is it fun, playing games helps to reinforce ideas and skills such as turn-taking, increasing attention span and concentration, and can boost language skills. It also gives children the chance to practice being a “good loser” and congratulating others even when the outcome isn’t what you wanted or expected. Here are a few great games to have around for early learners through elementary age.

Ages 5 and up, a cooperative game where everyone plays together and no one is left out. Fun for everyone!

Bluey-themed trouble! Again for ages 5 and up and gives the opportunity to “lose” in a friendly environment.

A tried and true classic for younger players, but fun for the whole family.
